Having amazing tattoos is basically like wearing money.
Tattoos have made their way into Hollywood and all sorts of elite establishments. They have become a status sign of sorts, when someone has a fascinating tattoo, the attraction is undeniable. Even someone who doesn't necessarily like tattoos for themselves most definitely can recognize superb artwork when they see it and they can't help but appreciate the beauty.
If you've ever walked into a room of strangers, and been greeted with that deer-in-headlights, jaw-dropped, all around awe-struck expression on someone's, or maybe everyone's face,, then you know all too well what I'm talking about. Your mere existence rocks people's worlds.
One of my clients put it best by saying
"Having amazing tattoos is basically like wearing money."
This statement is all too true. Its interesting to remember that the art and imagery we choose to permanently adorn our exteriors with affect those around us, sometimes possibly even more, than it affects ourselves. Not that this should necessarily impact our decision making process pre-ink, but like I said, it is an interesting concept. Ill never get bored of the hypnotizing impact my body art has on some people.
Babies for example, will often stare wide-eyed and sometimes try to touch the designs that cover my hands and neck, especially if its the first time they've ever seen someone heavily tattooed. This amusing reaction is not limited to infants, and I've seen similar facial expressions on people young and old alike. Tattoos are definitely becoming more and more acceptable as our society matures and becomes more open minded in general.
Even so, this is a rather recent shift, and the general population's apperception towards avid tattoo collectors in the mainstream is still relatively nagative. So stigmas are still some what present, and this inevitably leads to a bit of shock value every now and then. it is quite remarkable when you consider the actual impact someone with lots of tattoos can have on people who aren't necessarily on the same wavelength, for lack of better term.
without even making any direct contact with anyone, tattoos can invoke feelings of fear, anxiety, anger, wonder, admiration, respect and the list of some pretty serious and powerful emotions goes on. almost completely despite whatever message was intended between artist and wearer within the initial design.
